Winter 2019 - Arsenic
Despite being known to be poisonous for centuries, Arsenic has seen various everyday uses ranging from green paints and pigments, to medicine (especially tonics or "patent medicines"), to anti-aging remedies and skin blemish removers. Symptoms of arsenic poisoning are similar to those of generally less suspicious maladies such as cholera, resulting in many poisonings - either accidental or deliberate - going undetected.
