Highgate Cemetery comprises two sites on either side of Swains Lane in Highgate, north London, and is notable as both a cemetery and as a nature preserve. Originally opened in 1839, there are today approximately 170,000 people buried in around 53,000 graves across both sides of the cemetery. Among its notable interments and memorials are Karl Marx, Michael Faraday, Douglas Adams, and Christina Rossetti
