Winter 2019 - Laudanum Parfum
Of all the "poisons that silly people used to use as medicines back in the day", laudanum is... well, still technically available by prescription to this very day. It is a tincture of opium and, until around the 1910s, was available over-the-counter in various forms to cure all sorts of ailments from coughs to menstrual cramps to insomnia to digestive upset. Today it is rarely prescribed, though its formulation remains largely the same as what was available over a century ago (10% anhydrous morphine -- i.e. powdered opium -- mixed with ethanol).
