Louise Brooks (born Mary Louise Brooks, 14 November 1906 - 8 August 1985)
The unparalleled hedonistic flapper icon of the Roaring '20s, Louise Brooks began her career as a (sometimes nude) stage dancer, model, and chorus girl in New York. Best known for her early roles in Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl, Louise retired from acting at the age of 32 and took on a series of jobs including copywriter, Saks Fifth Avenue sales clerk, and escort. She published her memoir, Lulu in Hollywood, in 1982 to critical acclaim.
